My client wanted to perform real-time street validation using UPS Online Tools. This required an HTTP POST of XML data and the use of SSL. Thanks to GETURI I was able to develop and implement the project quickly and easily. SPLTOOL allows us to make reports easily accessible to our end-users, while also offering security features to allow them to view and print reports (including printing page ranges!), and not delete them. I just wanted to thank you for the SPLTOOL utility. I work at the Ashley Companies during my breaks from school, and last summer was assigned to set up a document archival system using OnBase software based on an NT server. We wanted to archive approximately 4-5000 pages per day of AS/400 created reports, invoices, etc... using OnBase rather than expensive fiche. The largest difficulty was implementing an easy way to transfer spool files created on the AS/400 to the OnBase server while retaining correct spacing. eRPG technology is amazing way for small/medium companies to get their business software plugged in to the internet without having to deal with the limitations of Webfacing Hats and other bridging technologies, or the cost/complexity of Websphere/J2EE. I believe the speed and granularity of eRPG’s access to the AS/400 database makes it easier and faster to develop real-world applications than using JDBC/ODBC solutions like ASP, Perl, or PHP.
eRPG has a particular advantage for companies with experienced RPG people who already have experience with the local data and business rules.
